BARC to establish 3,000-acre R&D campus in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is set to establish a sprawling 3,000-acre research and development campus in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh, marking one of the largest scientific infrastructure projects in the region.
The proposed facility is expected to focus on advanced nuclear research, materials science, and strategic technologies, significantly strengthening India’s indigenous R&D ecosystem.
The project aligns with the Centre’s broader push to decentralise high-end research facilities beyond traditional hubs.
It is also expected to catalyse the development of supporting industrial clusters, educational institutions, and specialised housing in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
