Cabinet approves four-laning of Kaliabor-Numaligarh Highway section
The Union Cabinet has sanctioned the widening of the Kaliabor-Numaligarh stretch of NH-715 in Assam into a four-lane highway.
The project is designed to boost connectivity in the Northeast, ease transportation bottlenecks, and promote trade and tourism in the region.
Assam and the Northeast are considered critical to India’s Act East policy, which seeks to strengthen economic ties with Southeast Asia through improved infrastructure.
Infrastructure upgrades of this scale are critical to unlocking the economic potential of India’s border states, encouraging investment, and fostering cross-border trade.
