Cabinet clears Rs. 9,072 crore railway multitracking plan

The Union Cabinet has approved railway multitracking projects worth Rs. 9,072 crore to add 307 km of additional network capacity.
The projects aim to decongest high-traffic corridors and improve freight movement efficiency.
Officials stated that the expansion will enhance operational flexibility and reduce bottlenecks on key routes. The works will be implemented in phases across multiple states.
The plan forms part of Indian Railways’ broader infrastructure modernisation programme.
