A feasibility study has been launched for a 705 km high-speed rail corridor connecting Hyderabad and Chennai.

The study, conducted by government-owned engineering consultancy RITES Ltd, aims to evaluate the viability of the project.

If implemented, the bullet train, which would run at speeds up to 320 km/h, could reduce the current travel time of 12 hours to just over two hours and 20 minutes.

The corridor would be constructed on a dedicated, elevated alignment, representing a major step in expanding India's high-speed rail network.
