Goa has commissioned its first-ever Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF) to address the growing environmental challenge of industrial waste.

The Rs 125 crore project, located in Pissurlem, Sattari taluka, is a "one-stop solution" for managing the nearly 45,000 metric tonnes of hazardous waste the state generates annually.

The facility includes a landfill, an incineration unit, and a pre-processing facility. It's a crucial step for the state to ensure proper and environmentally sound management of hazardous waste, preventing contamination of soil and water.
