HPCL begins construction of hydrogen plant in Andhra Pradesh
Building a green hydrogen plant at Visakh Refinery in Andhra Pradesh is one of the key initiatives Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is taking towards a greener and more sustainable future.
This programme supports India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to establish India as a global leader in the production, use, and export of green hydrogen.
The facility would have an annual electrolyser capacity of 370 tonnes, which will be a significant step towards lowering India's dependency on imported fossil fuels. By September 2023, it should be completely functioning.
According to PSU Connect, a bigger programme that includes solar projects in Karnataka with a combined capacity of 3.6 MW also includes the green hydrogen project at the Visakh refinery.
