Jindal India receives LoA for 300 MW solar plus storage from NHPC
Jindal India Renewable Energy (JIRE) has received a letter of acceptance (LoA) from NHPC for a 300 MW solar plus storage project.
The project, to be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis, must be completed within 24 months of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA).
It is part of NHPC's 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system-connected solar power initiative, featuring 600 MW/1200 MW energy storage.
The Energy Storage System (ESS) allows 600 MW of battery power to provide two hours of backup, ensuring a total output of 1,200 MW.
NHPC will enter a 25-year agreement with JIRE, purchasing solar power for sale to state utilities and other buyers.
JIRE, a part of the BC Jindal Group, has evolved from a steel pipe manufacturer into a key player in the power sector.
