KLA Corporation plans Rs 3,000 crore R&D centre in Chennai
KLA Corporation, a leading US-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer, is in advanced discussions to establish a state-of-the-art Rs 3,000 crore research and development (R&D) centre in Chennai.
The proposed facility will focus on advanced process control, metrology, and AI-driven analytics crucial for global chip manufacturing.
This initiative underscores India’s growing importance in the semiconductor value chain, following the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) push and recent policy support for chip design and fabrication.
KLA already operates a major engineering centre in Pune, and the planned Chennai unit will expand its capabilities in R&D and software-driven semiconductor solutions, creating hundreds of high-skilled technology jobs.
The project also complements Tamil Nadu’s ambition to emerge as a top electronics and semiconductor design hub in South Asia.
