L&T onshore bags Rs 10,000 crore BPCL order for India’s Largest Polyethylene swing unit
L&T’s Hydrocarbon Onshore vertical has secured a "major" contract—valued between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore—from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).
The project involves the construction of a Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) and High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) swing unit at BPCL’s Bina facility in Madhya Pradesh.
The scope includes two trains, each with a capacity of 575 KTPA, making it the largest unit of its kind in India.
This project is a cornerstone of BPCL’s Bina Petrochemicals and Refinery Expansion (BPREP), which aims to increase refinery capacity from 7.8 MMTPA to 11 MMTPA.
The move allows BPCL to pivot toward high-margin petrochemical derivatives, significantly reducing India’s dependence on polymer imports.
