MECL begins bauxite exploration in Kutch under NMET-Funded Baghewala Project

Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL) has launched a bauxite exploration initiative in the Baghewala area of Kutch, Gujarat, under the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET).
The project aims to assess the volume and grade of bauxite deposits, potentially strengthening India’s raw material base for alumina and aluminium production.
The exploration aligns with the government’s objective of reducing import dependence and building domestic capacity in critical minerals.
If the results are promising, the discovery could attract downstream investment in refining and aluminium processing facilities, creating new opportunities in Gujarat’s mining ecosystem.
