NTPC invests Rs 20,921.85 crore in two thermal plants

NTPC Limited said its board of directors has granted investment approval for two major thermal power projects with a combined investment of Rs 20,921.85 crore.

The Sipat Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-III), located in Chhattisgarh, will see an expansion of 1x800 MW at an estimated cost of ₹9,790.87 crore.

"We wish to inform that the board of directors of the Company, in its meeting held on 19th September 2024, has accorded investment approval for Sipat Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (1x800 MW) at an appraised current estimated cost of ₹9790.87 crore," according to a stock exchange filing.

Additionally, the board has approved investment for the Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II), situated in Odisha. This project will also add 1x800 MW to NTPC’s energy portfolio, with an estimated cost of ₹11,130.98 crore.

"We wish to inform that the Board of Directors of the Company, in its meeting held on 19th September 2024, has accorded investment approval for Darlipali Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (1x800 MW) at an appraised current estimated cost of ₹11130.98 crore," it said.

NTPC recorded a 13.5% year-on-year jump in its revenue at Rs 44,419 crore for the April to June 2024 quarter, beating CNBC-TV18 poll estimates, the state-owned power generation company’s financial results showed on July 27. In the corresponding quarter last fiscal, the firm’s revenue stood at Rs 39,122 crore.
