Odisha clears Rs 1.46 lakh crore of Industrial investments; 66,000 jobs anticipated
The Odisha government approved 33 projects totalling around Rs 1.46 lakh crore, projected to create some 66,000 jobs across 14 districts.
The approved projects span sectors like steel, aerospace & defence, chemicals, electronics and green energy.
The package reinforces Odisha’s strategy of port-led manufacturing clusters, mineral-based industries and value-added processing in the east of India.
With significant land and infrastructure already in place, the state is positioning itself for large-scale industrial growth.
Job creation and regional development have been core challenges in many resource-rich states; Odisha’s push into manufacturing and services in parallel is designed to capture broader economic benefit. The move may help reduce migration pressures and uplift regional demand.
Implementation remains the key; timely environmental clearances, infrastructure build-out (roads, power, water) and skills deployment will determine how many projects move from approval to production in the next few years.
