Pune Airport expansion to acquire 300 acres for runway extension and new MRO facility
Authorities overseeing the Pune Airport expansion have initiated plans to acquire 300 acres of land to facilitate a runway extension and establish a new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility.
The expansion, designed to support rising passenger traffic and larger commercial aircraft, is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade aimed at transforming the airport into a more robust regional aviation hub.
The existing runway has been facing capacity constraints due to rapid traffic growth in the Pune metropolitan region, one of India’s fastest-growing IT and industrial centres.
The proposed expansion will enable the airport to handle wide-body aircraft and improve flight frequency during peak hours.
This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance connectivity for business travellers and cargo operations.
