Rs. 48,862 crore Galathea Bay port project gets approval

The government has approved the Rs. 48,862 crore Galathea Bay International Container Port project, marking one of India’s largest port infrastructure initiatives. The project is located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The port is expected to enhance India’s strategic maritime capabilities and boost transshipment capacity.
It aims to reduce dependence on foreign ports for cargo handling. The development will position India as a key player in global shipping routes in the region.
