Six-lane greenfield highway from Coimbatore to Karur
The Tamil Nadu government has set up two ‘millet special zones’ in the state to capitalise on the growing global demand for the small grain.
Karur is the main center belonging to one of them. Karur is also a growing urban area at a distance of 131 km from Coimbatore.
A six-lane greenfield road from Coimbatore to Karur opens up many more such opportunities for business entrepreneurs in Kerala.
Coimbatore’s access to agricultural districts like Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkashi, Theni, Tiruchi, Dindigal and Ariyalur will be much better.
Otherwise, the already prosperous agricultural trade through the Palakkad pass will gain further momentum.
A consultant in Bengaluru has been assigned to prepare the DPR. They have already made several field visits.
The state government will get the detailed plan document within a month. Later it will be submitted to the National Highways Authority.
