Tamil Nadu prepares to roll out around 50 infrastructure projects
Tamil Nadu is preparing to roll out more than 50 major infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 45,000 crore, with bids expected to be issued over the next 1-2 years.
These projects span a range of sectors, including the development of a greenfield airport at Parandur, two pumped storage projects, and a thermal power plant near Chennai.
The projects will primarily be executed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, sources confirmed.
Other key initiatives include transmission projects, 24X7 water supply systems, a desalination plant, industrial infrastructure, and a waste-to-energy project.
While the larger projects are expected to take 5-6 years for completion, smaller-scale projects will be completed within two years.
Among the most significant PPP ventures is the Parandur airport project, for which the Centre has granted in-principal approval. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 20,000 crore, is currently preparing for its bidding process.
