Union Minister Pralhad Joshi launches Biomass Pellet plant in Rewari
Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, has formally inaugurated a 240 tonnes/day biomass pellet manufacturing plant in Rewari, Haryana.
The plant will convert agricultural residues such as paddy straw, mustard straw, and cotton stalks into biomass pellets for co-firing in thermal power plants — a move aligned with India’s national policy mandating 5% biomass (and 7% in Delhi-NCR) co-firing.
The launch is expected to reduce pollution, lower carbon emissions, and provide new income streams for farmers by turning crop waste into a valuable fuel.
At the same time, the plant supports rural employment and bolsters India’s clean-energy ecosystem.
