BMC plans 4.2-km elevated road between Kurla and Ghatkopar at Rs. 1,635 crore
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved a plan to build a 4.24 km elevated corridor along LBS Marg between Kurla and Ghatkopar, with project costs estimated at Rs. 1,635 crore, aimed at easing chronic east-west congestion in Mumbai’s eastern suburbs.
The design envisions long carriageways and landing ramps to minimise intersection delays and is expected to materially cut travel times for commuters while improving freight movement across key industrial nodes.
This project builds on a string of recent elevated-corridor and link-road investments in the city and will depend on timely contractor mobilisation, TDR/land clearances and traffic-management plans during construction.
If delivered to schedule, it will be a significant uplift to the city’s transit capacity and local economic productivity.
