Goa Shipyard Limited to invest Rs 1,500 crore in Andhra Pradesh green-field facility
Goa Shipyard Limited, a defence public-sector unit, has announced a Rs 1,500 crore investment to establish a green-field shipbuilding and repair facility in Andhra Pradesh under the state’s maritime-cluster policy.
The planned unit is expected to create around 6,500 jobs and will strengthen naval-vessel and auxiliary-ship construction capacity on India’s east coast.
The monsoon-resilient geography of Andhra Pradesh provides distinct year-round operational advantages over Goa, supporting faster build cycles.
The project contributes to India’s ongoing push for self-reliant defence manufacturing and boosts the state’s emergence as a maritime-industrial hub.
