MCD Standing Committee may approve key proposals on June 27
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Standing Committee is indeed holding its first meeting in over two and a half years. It is widely expected that the committee will approve a series of key proposals.
The newly formed Standing Committee, now led by BJP councillors Satya Sharma (chairperson) and Sunder Singh (deputy chairperson), has the authority to approve projects exceeding Rs 5 crore.
Given the long gap in its functioning, there are many pending projects (reportedly over 200) that require its approval. While the committee is expected to approve many of these, there's also an indication that they will take time to review proposals thoroughly to avoid hasty decisions.
The outcome of today's meeting will be significant for the civic administration of Delhi, potentially unblocking numerous long-delayed projects and initiating new development initiatives.
